Interview: The Wldlfe

Hailing from the Midwest, now in Nashville, The Wldlfe is coming to life even more. From their past song, “Close to You” to their new song coming in February, “Psycho” they have made a name for themselves. Opening for groups such as Greyscale and The Band Camino, you do not want to sleep on them.

Check out what they had to say below!

Hi guys! Thank you so much for talking with me today! For our readers, can you share a little bit about yourselves?

Hey everybody! We are a band called “The Wldlfe” (Jansen Hogan, Carson Hogan, Jack Crane) and we’re based in Nashville, TN. We do what bands do; write songs, play shows, just the typical stuff!

Coming up from a very music-driven scene in Nashville, can you give us a little backstory of how you each started your music careers?

Well we all are actually midwest boys who moved the band down to Nashville a couple years back. Jack grew up in a small town in Indiana, and Carson and Jansen are from Chicago. It’s a cliche but I think we all started playing music before we could walk. Just born to do it.

Can you take us through the creative process of creating ‘Psycho’ ? Did you have a favorite part of creating it?

Just like any other day in the studio, we just started with an idea and ran with it. I think we knew we had something with that guitar lick and built it out from there. It’s also the first song we wrote with Jonathan Capeci (Nightly) which is cool. He’s a great friend of ours and it’s always more fun to write something that you love when your friends are involved.

You guys just got announced to be opening for The Band Camino at their show in Memphis! How excited are you all?  How did that whole deal come about?

We’re really excited! Those are the boys! Happened pretty much overnight honestly. Got a text that we were locked in on Thursday afternoon, and woke up to a text on Friday morning that we were announcing in 30 minutes. We’ve known Jeffery and Spence since 2016 and it’s always fun to share the stage with them.

How would you describe your groups' music sound? Has it changed over time?

We aren’t huge fans of putting ourselves into a box because we like to try new things, but I  would put us in the alternative pop category. We wanna write pop songs and play guitars. Simple as that!

What can fans expect with your new song, ‘Psycho’?

I’d say ~nostalgia~ - It just has a quality about it that feels like it's out 2005 in the best way. It’s also a story which adds another level of depth to the song as well.

Have any of your personal experiences shaped who you all are as artists today?

Without a doubt. I think it’s the main driver for our music and vision for The Wldlfe.

If you guys could jump into another genre of music, what genre and why?

If I’m speaking for myself, I think that something super ‘Phoebe Bridgers’ is what I would find the most fulfillment from. However, I think we all would love to be Amine. He’s just smooth.

What are your future plans as a group? Is there anything else new coming that fans can look forward to?

For sure. I think by the time this interview is out we will have announced it but we are going out on tour for 10 days with “joan.” at the end of March, and just working on a lot of music. Have a lot lined up to release in 2022.

Make sure to stream their song, “Psycho” when it's out on February 10th! Presave it HERE.  Follow the WLDLIFE on social media to stay tuned for new things with their career as well: Instagram. Also, check out their other hits ‘Close  to you’  and ‘Somebodys Gonna Love You’
