Review:Dreams: Joe Scholar
Joseph Zhao, AKA Joe Scholar, is a 20-year old rapper. Singer, & songwriter from NYC. He started making music at the age of 16 with two of his close friends, who he still collaborates frequently with. Joseph started off his music career writing and recording mainly rap music. Recently he decided to step out of his comfort zone to explore other genres and styles in order to find his true sound. He now is making R&B and Pop music while still sticking with his original Hip-Hop roots.
He starts the song off, “ Now you ain’t gotta worry one bit cause baby girl I got what you need and it’s me an you been a long time coming so tell me you don’t tease” He’s saying she does not need to worry because she is his and he is hers no matter what. They have been waiting for this relationship to happen and he hope she is all in and won’t tease him. He wants the person to love him and be interested in him.
Joe expressed, “Being a big fan of artists, such as The Weeknd, Giveon, RINI, and many more R&B singers, I felt really inspired to create a romantic song with a very spacey and vibrant feeling to it. This led me to create my single DREAMS. I wrote this song from my own personal perspective of meeting someone that I developed a love interest in. I want this person to know that they’re someone special to me and that I would put in as much effort as I could to show them that I am the person that they have been waiting for and that they deserve the best in life. I also wrote this song hoping for anyone else in a similar situation as me to listen to and relate with.”
Overall, Joe’s hip-hop and R&B beats have helped him create this vocally smooth track to express his ‘dreams’ , no pun indented. Make sure you watch Joe because he is gonna be breaking through in the hip-hop world!
