Richard D. James, better known as Aphex Twin, is widely revered as an electronic music titan. His most recent EP, Collapse, was allusively released; with subtle and vague, yet distinguishable messages being spotted across the globe. In a similar fashion, an array of performance announcements have sprung up out of the blue. Despite only two locations being revealed, few are left disappointed.

Coachella spoiled the West by announcing the long awaited return of this musical mastermind. However, fans were left wondering about the announcement and if this California festival date was meant to be his only U.S. show of the year. This past Sunday put the thought to rest, when flyers flashing Aphex Twin’s iconic logo were discovered plastered around the Big Apple. The Aphex Twin show was later confirmed on twitter, along with other media publications such as Pitchfork, Mixmag and everyone’s favorite bustling techno hub, Resident Adviser.

The performance is slated to happen on March 11th at the Avant Gardner, a Brooklyn venue with the aesthetic of a warehouse, yet flaunting the upkeep and production of a proper music venue. While an interesting choice of space, especially given the opportunities in the New York area, it seems like the perfect fit for the vibe Richard will curate upon his return.

Ticket presales launch tomorrow, on January 16th, at 10AM. A presale code is required, which can be received through signing up here. Otherwise, general sale begins on Friday, January 18th, with tickets purchases here. We hope to see you out there!
