We never thought we'd hear that headline, either. The Obama administration is scheduled to work with SXSW to hold a one-day music festival on the White House lawn.

The festival, dubbed South By South Lawn, is scheduled for October 3rd. Described by organizers as a "festival of ideas, art and action", it will include film, music and interactive entertainment. Coordinating with the American Film Institute, the President's Committee on Arts and Humanities, and South by Southwest, the SXSL event will include three main parts: Interactive (booths in which attendees are encouraged to engage with and learn about new technologies and innovations); Film (including over 700 short films submitted by students in grades K-12 centered around the theme, The World I Want to Live In); and Music (including well-known and emerging artists).

SXSL organizers will be accepting online nominations of festival attendees through September 10th. Be sure to submit your inquiries at whitehouse.gov. (We strongly advise submitting Smash Mouth.)
