Legendary musician Prince Rogers Nelson's (1958-2016) influence in popular music cannot be overstated. Leading an innovative musical career into the early 80s, Prince brilliantly integrated a wide variety of styles, including pop, funk, R&B, rock, disco, and jazz. Dirty Mind and 1999 brought his talents into the limelight, and Purple Rain continues to be a yardstick by which all modern pop music endeavors are measured.

From performing dynamic and extraordinary live shows (such as at the 2007 Superbowl Halftime show), to changing his name to an unpronounceable symbol, Prince never ceased his creative process. The musician passed away in his home in Minneapolis this Thursday, April 21st after suffering from flu-like symptoms.

Please keep him in your thoughts as his friends, family, and fans go through this difficult period. The world will surely miss this cultural icon. Celebrate Prince's creative talents with some of his greatest tracks below.
