A new semester has started at Wentworth, meaning our live DJs are back and ready for action! We'll be continuing to have a weekly showcase of the hottest and most unique shows, here on the LiveWire blog. Starting off this year's DJ Of The Week madness, we have Jacob Chrissy. Jacob, who often has a co-host, will be talking to us about his bone-crunching heavy-sounding music show, Sounds of Madness.
With the first Pastry Beats showcase having debuted in Boston; very successfully, and some killer episodes of the podcast recorded and coming up soon, it's finally time for some self-reflection. We've curated a beats showcase, made tons of new friends, eaten the most divine pastries, but most importantly, had our ears peered and ready for new music.
This week's WIRE guest mix comes from a faculty member that has a special place in Wentworth student's hearts. Whether it be cramming for a thermodynamics exam, or staying up all night to work on an industrial design project, Marcus has all the bases covered.
This week's spotlight goes out to a DJ that started WIRE at the beginning of the semester, but nevertheless, has rapidly caught the ears of many of our listeners. We are talking about none other than our coffee drinking and wax spinning enigma, Nocturnal Ned, representing his show, Jazz Wax!
Mehdi Benjelloun, also known as Petit Biscuit, has always been a joy to follow and audibly explore. Although, his music is EDM in a general sense, Mehdi's sound is something that only he has mastered painting with. Delving into his new album, 'Presence', I felt an indescribable curiosity. However, coming out of the album, I gained a newfound appreciation for him and his boundary-expanding approach to a genre that's changed my life.
It was only a matter of time before the sounds of jazz crept their way into the DJ of the week showcase. This DJ has been broadcasting and hand-selecting some of the grooviest tunes in the genre for the past two years. So without further ado, meet the expert himself, Andrew Sacco.
You guys asked for it, and we heard you loud and clear! This fall we'll be bringing back the WIRE guest mix series, where we go around asking some of Wentworth's favorite faculty for specially-curated playlists. This week we have Rebecca Ryan, the coordinator of commuter student programs, as well as WIRE's beloved adviser!
With another week coming to an end, we're here to bring you a new WIRE DJ for our DJ of the week segment. This week's DJ of the week is someone who has taken the extra step to make sure they do all of their shows. We are of course, talking about Etarnaty from On The Fly. Let's see what one of WIRE's most active members has been up to!
Allem Iversom, a Soundcloud account that has recently sprung to some level of recognition, shows the inner workings of one of Pastry Beats' favorites, Harris Cole. This debut project, Without You, shares some incredibly beautiful works made from well-selected sample material. Despite the whole sampling vs non-sampling ordeal, Allem moves past this and contributes to these works with his previously-discovered sound.
Every semester we're presented with some of the most bizarre and interesting shows in WIRE history. This fall, WikiLeeks is no exception. Run by Abby and Matt, these two rascals take the world by storm with their decoding and exploration of the web's biggest encyclopedia; Wikipedia. Are they on a life long mission to prove that Wikipedia is a credible source? Let's find out!
